Open
Systems Acquisition of Weapons Systems Description: The BRTRC Institute is now offering the Open Systems Acquisition workshop to give participants practical skills for using Open Systems concepts in defense weapon systems programs. This workshop uses an interactive approach to illustrate the terms, concepts, and implementation strategies associated with the Open Systems approach. The course provides a roadmap to identify and select open standards for interfaces in both new and fielded weapons systems. Emphasizing products other than software, the workshop starts with a top level overview of OS concepts and continues with a practical step-by-step methodology to implement an OS approach, analyze critical interfaces, and execute an OS strategy. This workshop was developed for the DoD Open Systems Joint Task Force and has been taught on a centrally funded basis for two years. The OSJTF continues to support the workshop but it is now offered only on a pay-as-you-go basis through the BRTRC Institute. Who Should Attend?
